James J.W. Swallow was born on April 12, 1939 in Twelve Mile Points, OK to Ernest and Mary (Spotted Calf) Swallow. He passed away on March 2, 2015 in OKC, OK at the age of 75. Jay attended Calumet and Kingfisher Schools. Jay, whose Christian name is James Walter Swallow received his upbringing mostly in extreme poverty because his father was going blind by the time that Jay was born. By the time Jay became a teenager his father was totally blind. This was the life of hardship that was to loom over Jay until he became old enough to join the U.S. Navy in 1955, serving most of his time overseas. After his discharge of which he served honorably for five years, he became deeply involved in alcohol and drugs that led him so far from hope that he attempted suicide. After serving time in 'rehab' at Oakland, California he heard his father now lived in Los Angeles with his sister after the death of his mother. It was here that his father received the Lord and also was healed of over 21 years of blindness. This greatly impacted Jay and he went to Los Angeles to see for himself the miracle power of the Lord Jesus in his father's life. Although convinced that the Lord had healed his father, he delayed his personal commitment until he had again reached extreme bondages from alcohol that led to his deliverance and conversion. He married Joan Wilson on May 5, 1960 in California. They moved to Denver, CO where he began his first pastoral at Christ the Answer Church. They also lived in Ft. Logan, CO, and Jay pastored in Golden, CO before moving back to Geary, OK in 1974. Jay served 54 years in the ministry, serving as an evangelist to over 353 different tribes in the US, Canada, South America, attending many different conferences in many different countries, including, Israel, Fiji, and Cuba. He has been awarded numerous recognitions for his work of bringing the testimony of deliverance, healing, and salvation to many tribes.
